What a fitter needs to know before the first roll, and the four things that cause most callbacks.
Film goes on corrected paint. Swirls sealed under a clear film are permanent — there is no polishing them out afterwards. Decontaminate, clay, then correct, then panel-wipe.
Work between 18 and 28 °C. Below that the adhesive is slow to wet out; above it the film gets soft and picks up every speck in the bay.
Use the ratio in the TDS, not a habit. Too little slip and the film grabs before it is positioned; too much and the adhesive never fully wets, which shows up as a milky edge three weeks later.
Wrap edges, do not cut them short. An edge that stops on a flat panel is an edge that lifts. On compound curves, post-heat to 60 °C minimum and hold it while the film cools.
No washing for seven days, no pressure washing ever at the edge. The adhesive is still building its bond in the first week.
Lifted edge, trapped contamination, silvered adhesive from over-wetting, and a heat-repair film installed by someone expecting instant repair.
