Pearl effect lives or dies on particle orientation. Ours is controlled in two directions — aligned so the flake flashes, dispersed so it flashes evenly across a whole panel.
A pearl film with poor orientation looks dusty in shade and patchy in sun, because the flakes are lying at random angles and each one catches light differently. We orient the pearl powder during coating so the flakes share an angle, then disperse it finely enough that the effect holds across a bonnet rather than pooling in one corner.
